Award win for Newtown Area Library

Staff at Newtown Area Library have been announced as joint winners of the first Welsh Library Team of the Year Award.
The award celebrates the achievements of teams working within library and information services across Wales, particularly those that have had a positive impact on the community, improved library services and shown innovative practice and partnerships.
Councillor Rachel Powell, Portfolio Holder for Young People and Culture, said: "I'd like to congratulate the staff at Newtown Library on their achievement. It was wonderful that the team were one of three teams shortlisted for this award, picked from teams from across the whole of Wales and even more exciting that they have won. I am delighted that the staff have been recognised in this way for all their hard work.
"This award rightly raises the profile for all of our library staff and the Newtown Team have demonstrated how unique teams, such as this, have worked so hard and creatively, to continue to reach their communities through the language of literature. "
The award was presented by Lord Elis-Thomas MS, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism and Nick Poole, Chief Executive CILIP, the library and information association at the CILIP Cymru Wales Open Day and AGM on Thursday 3rd December 2020.
