Former Brecon High School building to be demolished
12 January 2021
A former high school building will be demolished, Powys County Council has said.
Demolition of the former Brecon High School building will begin next week (Monday, January 18) and which will be carried out by Bond Demolition.
The building has been empty since learners and staff moved into their new £21m high school building in December 2019.
Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Property, said: "We have decided to go-ahead with the demolition on health and safety grounds due to the condition of the old Brecon High School building.
"The building is in too poor of a condition to redevelop. It has also been subjected to vandalism and break-ins since it has been empty.
"The demolition will also allow the council to prepare the site for any future development."
