Last week (Tuesday, February 16), Powys County Council's Cabinet agreed to publish a statutory notice on proposals to establish a new all-age school in Llanfair Caereinion by closing both Llanfair Caereinion C.P. School and Caereinion High School and establishing a new, 4-18 all-age school on the existing sites from September 2022.

The proposals will help the council deliver its Strategy for Transforming Education, which wants to improve the learner entitlement and experience. The strategy was approved in April 2020.

Members of the public now have 28 days to submit any objections that they have about the proposals to the council.

Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Property, said: "We are committed to delivering an improved learner offer for the children and young people in Powys through our Strategy for Transforming Education in Powys. I believe that our proposal for the schools in Llanfair Caereinion will benefit both pupils and teaching staff.

"However, it is important that Cabinet hears the views of those who object to the proposal before any final decisions are made and I would urge them to send their views to us so that they can be considered."

To submit an objection, visit Transforming Education and follow the links.

Alternatively, you can send your objection in to us in writing by emailing or via post to the Interim Chief Education Officer, Powys County Council, Powys County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG.

The Objection Period will close on Tuesday, 23 March 2021.
