Case Studies and Testimonials
We work with one local authority on fraud (including tenancy fraud) and last year we returned more than 3.5 times the income than it cost to run the service.
In a tenancy fraud case for a housing partner we investigated and prosecuted a "not residing as principle home" case. Costs were less than £5k for this case but the housing partner saved:
- £77k on the refusal of the Right To Buy application
- The loss of a social house and gained the return of a 3 bed property to the landlord who then housed another family from their list
- No arrears or damage to the property on its return as these were caveats in the proceedings.
Excluding the value of everything else, the return on the cost of the investigation and prosecution, simply from the value of the Right To Buy discount alone was 15 times for the social landlord.
Neath Port Talbot has used the services of Powys Council since 2014 and we have just agreed to renew our agreement for a further 3 years.
Powys continuously provide a seamless and quality service to us which has enabled us to improve the service we provide to our customers.
DBS checks are now processed with a very quick turn-around time compared to before ( a number of days rather than weeks). We have gained many benefits from Powys Council administering our DBS checks; one being that our recruitment process is now much speedier and this helps managers to fill vacancies more quickly.
Powys has given us a service which is not only value for money, but has exceeded all our expectations and enabled us to offer a much faster and more efficient service to our customers.
Our experience of Powys County Council in supporting criminal proceedings has been an extremely positive one. And I would encourage like-minded housing providers to give consideration to such routes, particularly in relation to tackling the most serious incidents of tenancy fraud

"My career was spent in health working as a senior manager both in the NHS and the private sector. On retirement I wanted not only to keep busy but to do something worthwhile and, as a result, applied for and got the post of Clerk to Carreghofa Community Council.
My experience in my working life proved well suited to the post of Clerk with the exception of finances, because I had always had a large finance department to do this work for me.
Fortunately help came in the shape of the Powys County Council's new 'Heart of Wales Business Solutions' service.
For a modest fee their experts have taken over our payroll services so that I no longer have to worry about negotiating the tortuous paths of the HMRC but know that everything will be dealt with accurately and professionally.
I am happy to recommend this service to other community councils."

"I am pleased to confirm that I was very pleased with the service provided to Brecon Town Council earlier this year by way of provision of temporary admin staff cover. Both members of staff provided were extremely capable, slotted into the role easily and were polite and reliable."
