Image taken on the Offa's Dyke PathTo commemorate the 50th anniversary of the path, the Offa's Dyke Path National Trail are asking walkers to share their memories of walking this iconic route.

Whether it was a favourite memory from years gone by or a recollection from the present day, the Offa's Dyke Path team are keen to hear all your stories and see those special photos taken whist enjoying a walk along the historic trail.

Shared tales, photographs and anecdotes of walkers' experiences on the Offa's Dyke Path from the last 50 years will be shared on Offa's Dyke Path website and social media pages to celebrate this trail's golden anniversary.

"Our Offa's Dyke Path National Trail Officer, Rob Dingle, is really looking forward to seeing a great collection of walkers' memories from the last 50 years of the Offa's Dyke Path, and we are certain that these special photos and stories will inspire walkers for another 50 years to enjoy our breath-taking borderlands." Explains Nigel Brinn, Powys County Council's Corporate Director for Economy and Environment.

"Everyone that does submit a photo and memory will receive one of the special 50th anniversary keyrings as a special keepsake for being part of such a historic and special anniversary."

Alongside 50 years of memories, the anniversary will be celebrated through events and launches (dependent on COVID-19 restrictions). These include:

  • a multi-day walking festival hosted in collaboration with Ramblers Cymru,
  • the re-opening of Offa's Dyke Centre following state-of-the-art renovations,
  • a NEW artist exhibition by painter Dan Llywelyn Hall and some of the nation's finest poets,
  • a new ITV Wales production called 'Wonders of the Border' with Sean Fletcher exploring the Offa's Dyke Path.
