New cycle path route for Ystradgynlais
|23rd January 2018|
Work to construct a new cycle route in a south Powys town will start later this month, the county council has confirmed.
Powys County Council has received Welsh Government funding to construct the new cycle route in Ystradgynlais.
The works, which should last about five days, are due to start on Monday, January 29.
The new route will connect the cycle path, which runs along the side of the A4067, to the existing footpath network.
The new path will be 75 metres long and two meters wide and will be tarmacked to make it useable all year round. Additional works will also be carried out to improve drainage and reducing flooding along the new path.
Cllr Liam Fitzpatrick, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "I'm delighted that work on this new cycle route in Ystradgynlais will begin shortly.
"I hope that when construction works are finished, it will encourage more people to walk and cycle to school and to the local amenities in the town and help residents lead healthier lives."
