Gwernyfed High School
Powys County Council is proposing the improvement of yet another secondary school in Powys. If the recommendation to Powys County Council's cabinet is approved, work will start shortly on improvements to Gwernyfed High School including improved teaching, learning and sport facilities as part of a £7.2m refurbishment.
The cabinet will be asked to support a major refurbishment of Gwernyfed High School, as part of the council's 21st C Schools Programme, when it meets next week.
If approved, the project would see an existing teaching block reorganised and upgraded and a new teaching block built to meet 21st century schools standards. The work would also see a new sports hall built along with improvements to car parking and access at the premises.
The cabinet have approved a budget to include the renovation project and the removal of the Grade II listed Mansion House as a teaching facility.
