'Save the date' issued for March careers festival
31st July 2018
A partnership aimed at providing career information for young Powys people has announced that it will be holding the third Powys Careers Festival on Wednesday March 6th.
The Positive Pathways Powys Group will again be holding the event at the Royal Welsh Showground in Llanelwedd.
The group is a partnership of:
- Powys County Council,
- Careers Wales,
- secondary schools in the county,
- the NPTC Group of Colleges,
- Cambrian Training, and
- PAVO (The Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations)) which aims to promote the opportunities available to Powys students after they finish compulsory education.
Jackie Parker is Chair of the group (and also head-teacher at Crickhowell High School) and commented: "I'm really pleased to announce that we are going again and I'd ask schools, colleges, businesses, universities and other organisations to save the date of Wednesday March 6th 2019."
"We'll be announcing more details of how to get involved in the autumn but we'll be looking to make next year's bigger and better, so that we offer young Powys students the best information we can on what opportunities await them when they leave compulsory education."
This year, some 3,000 students from high schools, special schools and colleges from across Powys visited the Powys Careers Festival at the showground where there were more than 100 exhibitors, including universities, businesses, colleges, training companies and other organisations.
Ms Parker added: "If there are any employers or organisations out there that wish to be involved next year - that weren't this year - please contact my colleague Jayne Bevan at Powys County Council on Jayne.firstname.lastname@example.org or 01597 826695."
The event will again be free to students and exhibitors in 2019 and the group will be announcing details of sponsorship opportunities in the near future.
