Exemptions

Detached Buildings

Exempt if:

  • No sleeping accommodation.
  • Not exceeding 15 square metres in floor area.

Greenhouse/conservatory

Exempt if:

  • A conservatory must have a glass/translucent roof. It must be attached to the house and no larger than 30 square metres in floor area.
  • Single storey.
  • Existing entrance doors and/or windows are retained.
  • Used for no other purpose.
  • Incorporates safety glazing in critical locations.
  • Not built over drainage
  • Unheated

Garage

Exempt if:

  • Detached.
  • Not exceeding 30 square metres in floor area.
  • 1 metre or more from any boundary or substantially non-combustible.

Porch

Exempt if:

  • Used for no other purpose.
  • Not exceeding 30 square metres in floor area.Single storey.
  • Existing entrance doors and/or windows are retained.
  • Incorporates safety glazing in critical locations.

Carport

Exempt if:

  • Open on at least two sides (doors are not an open side).
  • Not exceeding 30 square metres in floor area.
  • Single storey.
