Image of some chairsFurniture declared surplus after the opening of five new Powys primary schools has been distributed to good causes in the county by a local company.

The furniture was surplus after five new schools Archdeacon Griffiths Church in Wales School, Llyswen, Ysgol y Mynydd Du, Talgarth, Llangorse Church in Wales Primary School and Hay-on-Wye Primary School and Clyro Church in Wales School, were opened in the Gwernyfed catchment area as part of £23m investment in primary education.

Furniture from the former the old schools was offered to other schools and early years' settings with any remaining items offered to Llandrindod Wells based second-hand furniture company Piranha who passed it on to a range of county-based charities and organisations across Wales.

The company started operating in 2014 selling on furniture bought through a shop on the town's high street before moving to a 3000sq.ft industrial unit on Ddole road two years later. They now have a following of over 2000 people on social media.
