Freedom Leisure is hosting a fundraising speed cycle and charity bike ride on Friday 1 March in aid of St. David's Hospice in Brecon and The South Powys Branch of Parkinsons.

Staff and customers at Freedom Leisure's south Powys sites will be taking part in a 1k speed cycle. Sites in Brecon Leisure Centre, Ystradgynlais Sports Centre, Builth Wells Sports Centre and Llandrindod Sports Centre will have two bikes in action from 10am-7pm for the speed challenges, with prizes for the fastest time.

Keen cyclist and Freedom Leisure Duty Manager Gareth Lawrence will also be cycling from site to site making the round trip of 171 km throughout the day. He'll complete the 1k speed cycling challenge at each of the centres he visits.

Wishing them well, Chairman of Council, Cllr David Meredith said: "I would like to thank Freedom Leisure for arranging this event and wish everyone well who is taking part."

Gwyn Owen, Freedom Leisure Area Manager for Powys, said: "We are delighted to be working alongside Powys County Council in supporting these valued local charities. It's an ideal opportunity for everyone to join in, exercise and raise money at the same time."
