The county will host a full stage of the OVO Energy Women's Tour on Friday June 14 with a spectacular start at the Lake in Llandrindod wells and an exciting finish at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.

As part of the excitement tour organisers have opened a volunteer programme, where Powys residents can apply to become a Race Maker - the public face of the event, helping stewarding, and making sure visitors have a great day.

Cabinet member for Economy and Planning, Councillor Martin Weale said; "With the OVO Energy Women's Tour passing through Builth Wells, Rhayader, and Llandrindod Wells, it is an ideal opportunity for those involved in our Tri-Towns initiative to get involved and support one of the biggest cycling events in Europe.

"Race Makers will give a warm welcome to the riders and visitors to Powys, and ensuring that they receive an unforgettable Powys experience. I would urge anyone who is interested to visit the website for more information and to register.

"The event will provide a huge economic boost Powys to the county and we are urging local business to get involved at the start and finish events. With Tour Village events at the Lake and showground there is ample opportunity for local business, food and drink providers to get involved.

"The event gives us a great opportunity to showcase the county and business on an international stage and I hope as many businesses as possible get involved.
