Machynlleth and Builth Wells libraries also held 50th Birthday parties at the end of the school term with children from the local Cylch Meithrin groups attending alongside Sali Mali herself who put in an appearance.  The children designing the best birthday cards recently received their prizes from Sali Mali.

Portfolio Holder for Young People and Culture, Councillor Rachel Powell said: "It's fantastic to see some of our children meeting and celebrating Sali Mali in person at their local library.

She added:

"One of our key missions within cultural services is to offer children opportunities.  This is to enjoy additional activities involving creative skills in art, reading and social development with characters such as Sali Mali including competitions, with role-play and design.   Our library staff and volunteers are always looking for ideas to encourage involvement of young children and the birthday card design competition has been another great success."

There were three winners from the branches: - Camille Bowler Griffiths, Non Lloyd and Zoe Claridge and runner up prizes.  The overall winner for Powys was Dexter Morgan.
