Image of people bidding at auctionEight surplus properties including a former outdoor education centre, library, small-holding and development land be sold at public auction next month, Powys County Council has confirmed.

The public auction follows a successful event earlier this year when nine surplus properties were auctioned by Brightwells Ltd (Builth Wells) raising more than £630,000 for the county council.

Held at the Metropole in Llandrindod wells, the event attracted more than 120 people, internet bidders from across the UK using Brightwells' live internet bidding portal and even one caller from New Zealand.

The next auction by Brightwells Ltd will be held at the Metropole Hotel Llandrindod Wells on October 31 with total guide prices of more than £850,000.

The eight properties are:

Former Outdoor Education Centre, Staylittle, Llanidloes- a substantial building set in grounds of some 1.27 acres which currently comprises 9 bedrooms and associated accommodation. Located within the scenic Cambrian Mountains and close to Llyn Clywedog. Guide Price £230,000

Development land at Cwmbach near Glasbury on Wye- Site residential development site, located in the highly desirable hamlet of Cwm-Bach, near the village of Glasbury, and overlooking the remarkable Wye Valley. The site amounts to approximately 1 acre of gently sloping green-field land and is offered for sale with the benefit of outline planning permission for 8 dwellings, subject to a requirement that 30% of those dwellings shall be affordable homes.
