This spring, we're calling on you to help improve the environment on our doorstep. Together with Keep Wales Tidy, we're aiming to inspire thousands of people to join forces to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, parks and local areas, recycling as much as possible.

Spring Clean Cymru (20 March - 13 April) is part of the Great British Spring Clean. In 2019, over 563,163 people, including 175,055 students, volunteered their time to take part in the campaign.

This year's campaign will not only see tonnes of litter being removed from the environment on our doorstep, it also aims to rescue thousands of the plastic bottles and aluminium drinks cans that are simply thrown on the ground which should have been very easily recycled.

Cllr Heulwen Hulme, Cabinet Member for Recycling and Waste said:

"We know how much Powys communities care about the environment in our beautiful county, so we are delighted to be joining forces with Keep Wales Tidy again this year in a bid to encourage community groups to come together and join in with the 2020 Spring Clean Cymru campaign."

"Litter picking toolkits, containing everything you need, can be borrowed from some of our libraries, so please pop in or reserve your kit online and organise a spring clean for your local area soon."

Lesley Jones, Keep Wales Tidy Chief Executive said: "The value of a good quality environment can't be underestimated. It not only affects the look and feel of a place but has a significant and far-reaching impact on wildlife, our health and wellbeing and the local economy.

"Spring Clean Cymru brings communities together to care for our environment. We'd like to thank every single one of our volunteers for making this year's campaign a success.
