Powys County Council has established new programme arrangements and governance to deliver its Strategy for Transforming Education. The strategy was approved by Leader Cllr Rosemarie Harris under delegated powers in April.

As part of the programme arrangements, the council has established four workstreams to deliver the strategic aims outlined in the strategy. The workstreams are:

  • All-age schools and primaries
  • Post-16 provision
  • Welsh-medium provision
  • ALN provision

Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Education and Property, said: "Learning and skills is a cornerstone of our Vision 2025 and we want to provide a world-class rural education system that has learner entitlement at its core.

"To provide this world-class education system and achieve the aims in our strategy, we need to have the right arrangements in place to ensure that we can deliver the outcomes needed to transform the learner experience and entitlement for our young people.

"We are committed to giving our learners, who will be at the heart of all our decisions, the best possible start they deserve."
