Council work highlighted in national publication

Tablet with analytics COVID-19 response work by Powys County Council's business Intelligence, Analytic and ICT staff identifying vulnerable residents has been praised in prestigious national publication.

Public Sector Executive, the country's leading independent public sector news outlet, has featured the county's work in developing an automated online system to help identify vulnerable residents during the pandemic crisis.

The rapidly deployed system was used by the council's customer service staff, boosted by redeployed staff, to call thousands of vulnerable and shielding residents to ensure they were receiving the support they needed.

During the height of pandemic in the county staff made more than 10,000 calls to vulnerable and shielding residents using information from the new rapidly developed online business analytic system.

Cabinet Member for Corporate Governance and Engagement, Councillor Graham Breeze said:

"Council staff from our Customer Services, Housing and Social Care departments, as well as a number from other departments actively contacted these residents thanks to the system ensuring they got the help and support they needed.

"Having their work recognised in a prestigious national publication as an example of responding to a national crisis is well deserved praise."
