An awards ceremony that will celebrate the achievements of Service Children across Wales is being proudly sponsored by Powys County Council.

The Service Children Awards Cymru 2023 are being held for the very first time in Wales, which will see the ceremony taking place at Brecon's Infantry Battle School on Saturday, October 28.

The awards, which are being sponsored by the council, are being delivered by Veterans Awards CIC in partnership with SSCE Cymru with support from the Armed Forces in Wales.

Wales has a high number of Service Children who shine within their communities.  These awards will recognise the efforts of those individuals who have gone above and beyond and draw attention to the experiences of Service Children and their families.

Cllr Matthew Dorrance, Deputy Leader and Armed Forces Champion, said: "I'm delighted that Powys County Council is supporting and sponsoring the Service Children Awards Cymru.

"These awards are important as they recognise the challenges and benefits Service Children have when one or more of their parents are serving in the Armed Forces.

"These new awards are an exciting opportunity to celebrate together our Service Children's achievements. We are honoured that Powys is hosting these first awards and we look forward to seeing the nominated children and families at the event."
