Later Life Letters/Life Story Work

Children in Wales

All children in Wales, who are unable to be cared for by their birth families, need to have an understanding of their family history and of their unique journey.
Social workers will learn how later life letters and Life Journey Work can help a child make sense of their past and understand their current situation in order to help them to move into the future.

Participants will find how they can use later life letters and life story work to support the child's identity, promote self-esteem, help give the child a sense of belonging, wellbeing and support good mental health.
Life Journey Work provides an opportunity and a structure for the child to explore their emotions and talk about painful issues and provide them with important factual information and a narrative and some explanations for the child as well as preserving memories.

There is no charge to attend these courses, however a cancellation charge may apply to non-attendance if sufficient notice is not given
