Approved Shared Prosperity Fund Projects

Internal Open Call - Round One

Like many other local authorities across Wales, a decision was made to open an internal call for projects, that were ready to deliver and spend budget before 31/03/23. UK Government stressed that if our Year 1 allocation (£3.4m) was not spent, there was a real risk that we would lose it. 

The internal call targeted the following themes and investment priority areas:

1)     Communities and Place

All Investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

2)     Supporting Local Business

All Investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.  

3)     People and Skills

All Investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

4)     Multiply

All Investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

First Open Call

The first opportunity to submit applications for funding opened on Monday 20 March 2023 and close at 23.59pm on Sunday 16 April 2023.

The first call targeted the following themes and investment priority areas:

1)       Communities and Place

Intervention W14 - Relevant Feasibility Studies

2)     Communities and Place

All investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

The focus of this call was on capacity building projects to help prepare organisations to develop future bids into the fund.  This call also offered an opportunity for backbone projects to support smaller organisations to access smaller pots of funding and/or advice and support.

3)     Supporting Local Business

Intervention W31- Relevant Feasibility Studies

Second Open Call

The second opportunity to submit applications for funding opened on Monday 15th May 2023 and closed at 23:59 on Sunday 11th June 2023.

The second call targeted the following themes and investment priority areas:

1)       Supporting Local Business

All investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

2)     Multiply

All investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

Third Call for Applications

The third opportunity to submit applications for funding opened on Monday 10 July 2023 and closed at 23:59 on Sunday 1 October 2023.

The third call targeted the following theme and investment priority area:

1)     People and Skills

All Investment priorities within the Mid Wales Regional Investment Plan.

Fourth Call for Applications

The fourth opportunity to submit applications for funding opened on Monday 2 October 2023 and closed at 23:59 on Sunday 29 October 2023.

The fourth call targeted to the following theme and investment priority area:

1)       Multiply

Fifth Call for Applications

The fifth opportunity to submit applications for funding opened on Tuesday 6 February 2024 and closed at 23:59 on Sunday 3 March 2024.

The fifth call targeted the following theme and investment priority area:

1)     People and Skills

  • Investment W37: Interventions to increase levels of digital inclusion, with a focus on essential digital skills, communicating the benefits of getting (safely) online, and in-community support to provide users with the confidence and trust to stay online.
  • Investment W41: Retraining and upskilling support for those in high carbon sectors, with a particular focus on transitioning to green, and Industry 4.0 and 5.0 jobs.
  • Investment W43: Funding to support engagement and softer skills development for young people, with regard to the work of Careers Wales/Working Wales.

Commissioned Projects

In December 2023 the Powys Shared Prosperity Fund Local Partnership identified gaps in approved project delivery against certain interventions (project activity) within the investment priority areas.  In order to address these gaps, the partnership commissioned a number of projects.
