Working for us in Welsh

Would you like to use your Welsh in the workplace and to help your community? If so, why not consider a role with Powys County Council?

We are a large employer and provide a wide variety of public services to our communities.

We are committed to supporting and promoting the Welsh language within the county and we need more Welsh speaking staff to support this, meet our Welsh Language Standards and ambitions, and to help us deliver services bilingually.

Our roles

Your linguistic skills are highly valued. We have lots of roles where you could use Welsh throughout your employment with us.

Examples include joining us as a Welsh language translator, a teacher or member of support staff in one of our Welsh medium schools, or influencing policy and compliance as a Welsh language officer.

Alternatively, your Welsh skills can be used within many roles to help us deliver services bilingually.

Such as a social worker or carer with clients in a Welsh speaking community, a HR manager who can help advise and support colleagues through the medium of Welsh, or an administrator or receptionist who can communicate with residents bilingually.

Hear from Ffion, a Senior HR Advisor, about how she uses Welsh in the workplace.

Support

If required, we can offer training and support to improve your language skills across all levels.
