Working together, Brecon Town Council and Powys County Council are making sure that the small electric road sweeper in Brecon is kept busy keeping the town clean and tidy.

When not being used by Powys, the zero-emissions sweeper is made available to the town council, whereby their caretaker, Alex Jones, uses it to do extra cleaning within the town.

"We are really grateful to be working collaboratively with Powys County Council in this way." Says Fiona Williams, clerk of Brecon Town Council. "By allowing us to use the small electric road sweeper, our councillors have noted an immediate improvement to the cleanliness of the town. The Brecon Chamber of Trade and Tourism have also noticed the difference and passed on their thanks too."

Alex, pictured with Powys County Council's Highways Inspector, Vincent Playdon, was initially given full training on the machine and now works together with the highways team to make sure all areas of Brecon are keep looking their best.

Cllr Jackie Charlton, Powys County Council Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, says; "Collaborative working such as this is the way forward for a more sustainable Powys. It has been so great to see how the local environment of Brecon town centre has seen such improvements by working together with the town council. We will be actively looking to work together with other town and community councils in this way across the county in the future."
