Summer Holiday Activities

Children Playing

29 July 2024

Children Playing
A variety of play, sports and creative activities are on offer throughout the county for children, families and young people in Powys this summer.

A wide range of free opportunities for children to play and have fun are available thanks to Welsh Government funding. The scheme is supported by Powys County Council and delivered by various groups and organisations in communities across the county.

The Minister for Mental Health and Early Years, Sarah Murphy visited a Playworks session at the Royal Welsh Show last week. The Minister said: "We are committed to supporting the Playworks holiday project scheme and have invested £1m this year to ensure local authorities across Wales can provide high quality play for children during the summer holidays. It has been brilliant to see for myself how fun, engaging and stimulating these sessions are."

Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for Future Generations, Cllr Sandra Davies adds: "We are delighted that children and young people across Powys have the opportunity to benefit from summer activity sessions again this year.  Enabling children to socialise, be active, eat a healthy snack and learn something new is an important part of the Playworks holiday project and can really support families across the summer.

"I encourage parents to find out what's on in their local area, as children and young people could benefit from fun activities such as forest school, messy art play, kids yoga, teen gym, multi sports sessions, and much more."
