Fast Track to Level 2 Maths with Number Up
Monday 30 September
The innovative online course, offering the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Maths qualification in just four weeks is free of charge, thanks to Number Up, a project by StoriPowys, aiming to boost numeracy confidence across the county.
Since September 2023, over 300 adults have participated in formal maths courses and informal numeracy-based workshops and activities, both online and in libraries across Powys.
Cllr. Richard Church, Powys County Council's Cabinet member for a safer Powys, said: "Number Up is a fantastic opportunity for parents and carers in Powys to upskill and build confidence in Maths without the pressures of being in a traditional classroom.
"By providing this course for free and making it easily accessible, we're empowering families, opening up new career opportunities, and fostering a more skilled and resilient community."
Tailored specifically for busy adults, Number Up provides a flexible approach to learning through a series of two-hour evening sessions, designed to fit around the demands of daily life, work, and family commitments.
Led by an experienced and friendly tutor, the course creates a supportive, stress-free environment where learners can build confidence in Maths.
Mair Dafydd, Senior Librarian - Literacy and Learning Development, StoriPowys, said: "Libraries have always been about more than just books. They're hubs for learning and opportunity.
"Number Up empowers parents and carers to invest in themselves, and we're pleased that the project is having a positive impact on people's lives."
