DNS Planning Applications

Developments of National Significance (DNS) and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) are large-scale projects that require a special planning process due to their size, complexity, and potential impact.

Decisions on DNS and NSIP applications differ from normal planning applications in the way they are decided. Instead of your Local Planning Authority making the decision, Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) examines the application and makes a recommendation to the Welsh Minister based on planning merits and national priorities. The Minister then decides whether to grant permission.
