Who can adopt?

Adoption Mid & West Wales believes that every child deserves a loving home, and we welcome adopters from all backgrounds, regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality or marital status. 

There are some practical considerations which determine whether you can be considered as suitable to adopt however, which include:

You must:

• be aged 21 or over
• be a UK resident or be granted Leave To Remain in the UK
• have a spare bedroom for a child
• have no serious criminal convictions
• not be currently undergoing fertility treatment
• be in good general health and be a non-smoker/vaper (to adopt a child under 5)
