Check out your local library during Libraries Week 2025

5 June 2025

There are 18 libraries in Powys which are all either run by the county council or by volunteers, who offer a book loan service in partnership with the council. You can find information on all of them, including opening times, through the Stori Powys website: https://storipowys.org.uk/visit-us/libraries/
Powys libraries offer a range of services for adults and children which support wellbeing and lifelong learning.
Literacy is a key driver, and they offer a wide range of fiction and non-fiction titles for customers.
Digital literacy too is a priority, and their services include the provision of digital upskilling opportunities, equipment loans (iPads, laptops and a variety of other digital kit), and a wide selection of e-resources.
Libraries also deliver a programme of activities, including regular children's events and activities for adults covering a myriad of cultural and educational themes.
"We are encouraging all Powys residents to check out what their local library has to offer during Libraries Week 2025," said Councillor Raiff Devlin, Powys County Council's Cabinet Member for Customers, Digital and Community Services. "Their offerings are as diverse as the communities they support and help to build language confidence and literacy, digital skills and inclusion, and promote good health and resilience.
"Our team of frontline staff are skilled information professionals, trained in signposting visitors to a range of community resources, including council Customer Services and partner organisations."
