A north Powys primary school has been congratulated by Powys County Council after receiving an excellent Estyn inspection.

Arddleen C.P. School has been described by Estyn as a 'warm and welcoming school with a strong community feel, where staff and pupils treat each other with care and respect'. Estyn added that 'this creates a calm, nurturing environment that supports learning and development effectively'.

The report, published on Tuesday, September 2, features a special 'spotlight' section showcasing best practice, which highlights how the school has given Wales and the Welsh language a high priority in its curriculum and teaching.

The school was also praised for its inclusive ethos, strong leadership, and engaging curriculum. Estyn found that pupils made strong progress across subjects, supported by staff who know them well and adapt teaching to meet individual needs.

The acting headteacher was commended by Estyn for fostering a clear vision and a culture of improvement, while governors provide effective oversight.

Cllr Pete Roberts, Cabinet Member for a Learning Powys, said: "I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to everyone at Arddleen C.P. School on their successful Estyn inspection.

"The report clearly reflects the dedication of staff, the strength of leadership, and the positive, inclusive environment that supports pupils to thrive. It's encouraging to see such strong progress in learning and well-being, and I'm particularly pleased with the school's commitment to continuous improvement.

"This is a fantastic achievement and a credit to the whole school community."
