Introduction to the Training Sources
This section brings together a wide range of learning opportunities and resources for care home staff in Powys, including facilitated sessions for Health Protection Champions. Many of the modules and materials, however, are freely available and relevant across all types of social care settings — including domiciliary care, supported living, and unpaid carers. Topics cover essential areas like infection prevention and control, safeguarding, wellbeing, Welsh language awareness, immunisation, and practical tools to support safe, high-quality care in everyday practice.

Upcoming PTHB/PCC Training for Health Protection Champions

Health Protection Champion Training - Online Event
We are hosting the first of four online Health Protection Champion Network training sessions on 5 March 2026, 2:00pm-4:30pm.
These sessions are designed to support care homes by focusing on practical, care home specific guidance, sharing best practice, and providing expert advice.
This first event will cover:
- Public Health Wales AWARe Team
- The management of scabies
- Infection prevention and control in the care home
