Sports coaching and volunteering - Young Ambassadors

The Young Ambassador Movement aims to empower and inspire young people to become role models and leaders through sport, by developing their confidence and skills in order to encourage physical activity in others.

The London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics was used by the Young Ambassadors as a catalyst to inspire change in others. Following the Olympics, other major sporting events such as the Commonwealth Games will become the main inspiration. The initiative will recognise and reward committed young sports leaders in our schools and communities with further training and opportunities.

A Young Ambassador's role is to:

  • Increase healthy lifestyles and participation in physical activity in their school.
  • Promote the Olympic and Paralympic Values of Respect, Friendship, Personal Excellence, Courage, Determination, Inspiration and Equality through sport.
  • Be a role model in advocating PE and school sport.
  • To be the young person's voice on PE and school sport in their schools, sports clubs and communities.
