About the role: To take the lead role across a small number of grounds maintenance operational teams, preparing, organising and leading a number of multifunctional operatives engaged in routine and non-routine, more complicated or larger scale works. Ensure tasks are being carried out in line with the required health & safety regulations and staff are adhering to and applying an approved risk assessment procedure. Motivate, support and lead colleagues by example. About you: To undertake a range of skilled tasks and the use of tools and equipment in relation to the service functions of the Highways, Transport, Waste and Recycling Department, ensuring an efficient and effective delivery of the Grounds maintenance and Highway maintenance service to the stakeholders that meets the Council’s and the Governments performance criteria including continuous improvement. What you will do: 1. To take responsibility for operating vehicles and colleagues directly engaged in the operation, adhering to all relevant health and safety policies and arrangements in a pro-active manner to ensure that a high standard of safe working practices are maintained. 2. Carry out a wide range of grounds maintenance highway maintenance and Housing estate maintenance tasks, to the standards required and within the scheduled programme of works. Work in co-operation with other service providers and contractors as required. 3. Report any issues or incidents encountered in work situations through customer reports / complaints, general observation, accidents and near misses. 4. Use of initiative to suggest and implement better work methods, alter the order of work to achieve priorities, apply problem solving and decision making to achieve tasks successfully, to the standards required and in compliance with health & safety regulations. 5. Deliver work specific job chats or tool-box talks to a direct operational team. Undertake risk assessments as necessary and ensure that work colleagues within the site understand and follow all safety measures and procedures as directed by the Contracts & Programmes Engineer. 6. Carry out vehicle and equipment checks and testing to ensure safe and correct operation, roadworthiness and correct equipment settings.. Report and act on any vehicle or equipment faults/breakdowns to ensure deadlines for the completion of tasks are still met within the prescribed timescales. Contact details: recruitment@powys.gov.uk

Point 15 to Point 19
£30,024 to £32,061 per annum
£15.56 to £16.61per hour
