Choose to reuse

Your unwanted items could easily be given a second life by donating them to a good cause:
Choose to reuse shops at the Household Recycling Centres
Together with local community groups and charities, we are looking to introduce reuse shops at all our Household Recycling Centres in the future. You will soon be able to donate and/or buy items during your visit. All donated items will be sold to help raise money for local causes.
More details will follow shortly.
Charity shops and online marketplaces
The county is full of charity shops willing to accept donations of good quality unwanted items. Whether it is a bag of clothes the kids have outgrown, old books, unused toys, or an unwanted gift, there will be someone who will be happy to snap up a bargain at their local charity shop.
No shops nearby? There are always online alternatives such as Freegle

Phoenix Community Furniture Scheme
Phoenix is a registered non-profit making charity based in Newtown. They collect donated furniture, household goods and electrical items from the public. These are then cleaned and sorted before being passed on to Powys residents in need of low-cost goods.
Phoenix will collect for free, phone 01686 623336 for more information.
Why not get your broken items repaired?
If possible, it is far better to get broken items repaired rather than replace them. Not only is it the more sustainable and environmentally friendly option, but it is usually cheaper too.
