The campaign is calling on people all over the world to create 'The Biggest Hour for Earth' by switching off their lights and spending 60 minutes doing something positive for our planet.

Cllr Jackie Charlton, Cabinet Member for a Greener Powys, said "As a council, we urge our residents to join with the millions of people, cities, communities and landmarks across the world to support this event, taking part in the world's largest environmental campaign.

"Personally, I am really looking forward to supporting Earth Hour on Saturday and helping to create the biggest hour on earth, and we really encourage our local communities and partners in Powys to join the event also at 8.30pm.

"Even more importantly, we also encourage everyone to mindful at all times of the personal actions we take every day and the impact they have on the environment."
