How often will an IRO be involved?

How will IRO be involved

IRO's will chair each Child Looked After Review, Pathway Plan or Child Protection Conference for your child.

The IRO will meet with parents before a child protection conference takes place. The IRO will continue to be involved for the duration of the child protection registration.

The IRO will offer to meet with the child before each review meeting so that they can tell them their wishes and feelings. The child is able to contact their IRO between review meetings if they would like to talk to them, and they can even work with the child to chair their own review meetings if they would like to.

An IRO will meet with a child when they enter care, then three months later and then every six months. IRO's stay involved for as long as the child remains in care, up to 18 years old. If a child looked after moves, or if there are major changes in the care plan, the IRO will arrange a further child looked after review.
