About the team

The Children's Integrated Disability Service is a team that provides social work support to children who require additional support to meet their social care needs (over and above that which can be provided by Universal or Targeted Services in the community) due to having profound needs. The team is split into a North and South service, and both have a Team Manager, a Principal Social Worker, Social Workers, Wellbeing Workers and Early Help Practitioners.
The team provides support at either an early help level, or at a statutory level, they undertake standard social work assessments and where required commission services to meet any unmet social needs, where these needs cannot be met through any other means (such as family support, setting support etc). Where a commissioned service (or a Direct Payment) is put in place to support a child, this is generally referred to as a 'short break'.
The team works with families across all aspects of social care and can support families that are on child protection plans, who are looked after, in the court process and who are identified as having care and support needs.
