Why should I care?

A Green Question Mark
  • Cost Disruption from climate change impacts mean the cost of living, doing business, and delivering public services will continue to go up much faster.
  • Food Weather events like flooding and drought, unpredictable changes to growing season, pressure on water supplies to grow food, more pests and diseases will all affect the supply of food.
  • Health Changing temperatures have a wide range of health impacts, affecting the most vulnerable members in our communities, including the elderly and the very young, most. Hotter weather days affect heart and brain health; more rain in winter can make respiratory diseases more severe. Mental health impacts of anxiety from climate change effects also include worries about housing security, cost of living pressures, and economic insecurity.
  • Land + Nature Climate change will affect our landscape in many ways. Extreme weather makes soils more unstable causing landslips and uproot trees. Since 1994 Welsh wildlife has decreased by 20% with 18% of all species threatened with extinction.
  • Future Generations Future generations will inherit a world much more uncertain, dangerous and expensive than the one we enjoy today. Acting now will help protect future generations from the worst effects of climate change.
