Mix, match, and make a difference - Odd Socks Day coming to Powys
7 November 2025
The 'Odd Socks Day' marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week (November 10-14), which Powys County Council is supporting.
This year's theme is "Power for Good", encouraging children and young people to recognise the positive influence they have and use it to help stop bullying.
Odd Socks Day is a fun and easy way to celebrate individuality and kick off a week of activities focused on kindness and inclusion. There's no pressure for expensive costumes, just wear odd socks and start the conversation.
Cllr Sandra Davies, Cabinet Member for Future Generations, said: "Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued. Anti-Bullying Week is a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in creating a culture of kindness. By using our 'Power for Good', we can make sure that no young person feels alone or unheard."
Cllr James Gibson-Watt, Cabinet Member for a Learning Powys, said: "Education is about more than academic achievement, it's about helping young people grow into confident, compassionate individuals. Odd Socks Day is a fun way to start important conversations about respect and inclusion, and we're proud to support schools in making this week meaningful."
To encourage schools to take part in Odd Socks Day and Anti-Bullying Week, the Powys Junior Start Well Board has created resources for assemblies and registration. These include a short presentation covering:
- Types of bullying
- The importance of kindness
- What to do if you experience bullying
The Junior Start Well Board is made up of young people who work with the main Start Well Board to ensure children and young people have a voice in shaping local services.
