Registering on the Central Digital Platform (CDP) for your Unique Supplier ID / PPON: Step by Step Supplier Guide
The Procurement Act 2023 came into force on 24 February 2025 which has led to a number of changes to how goods and services are procured in the public sector.
A key part of the new system is the Central Digital Platform (CDP), which every supplier will need to use.
In order to tender or provide quotations to the public sector suppliers must:
- Register on the CDP / Find a Tender Service (FTS)
- Get your unique supplier ID / Public Procurement Organisation Number (PPON)
- Add this ID to your Sell2Wales profile (if relevant)
This will allow you to continue tendering or quoting for public contracts.
Suppliers only need to register once to create their supplier ID/PPON.
What you need to do Step‑by‑Step
Step 1: Prepare your core supplier information
Why this step matters
Preparing this information in advance will make your registration on the Central Digital Platform (CDP) much quicker and smoother. Once your details are entered, they can be stored and reused for future tenders, so you won't need to provide the same information again.
You will need:
Basic business information
- Organisation name and address
- Companies House number or Charity Commission number
- VAT number (if applicable)
- Relevant qualifications or trade association memberships
- Confirmation of whether you are an SME, VCSE, or public service mutual
The following information is also required to fully complete your CDP account, but is not required to initially create an account and receive your unique identifier:
- Financial information
Most recent annual accounts
- Connected persons
Names, addresses, and details of persons with significant control or influence
- Exclusions information
Details of any mandatory or discretionary exclusion grounds
(as set out in Schedules 6 and 7 of the Procurement Act)
Step 2: Register on the Central Digital Platform (CDP) / Find a Tender Service (FTS)
Why this step matters:
You must complete this step to receive your unique supplier ID. This ID is essential, as you will not be able to tender under the new Procurement Act regulations without it.
How to register
- Go to Find a Tender: https://www.find-tender.service.gov.uk/
- Create an account (or re‑register if you already have one).
- Enter your organisation's details following the on‑screen steps.
- Once complete, the system will generate your unique supplier ID/PPON, in this format:
PPON ABCD‑1111‑EFGH - Record and keep this information and provide upon request.
