Blue Badges

The Blue Badge Scheme is a national arrangement that gives parking concessions to people with severe walking difficulties, whether they're drivers or passengers. This helps people with the badges to lead a normal life by making it easier to get out and about.
NEWS: New car parking charges implemented for blue badge holders
From the 1st August 2025 new charges were introduced in the Council's off street car parks. From this date blue badge holders ceased to benefit from the full concession of being able to park for free and are now required to pay to use the car parks. The concession has been changed to providing an additional hour after the expiry of a purchased ticket when also displaying a valid blue badge. The change was agreed by Full Council as part of the budget setting to ensure a balanced budget was approved.
