Aim
- Social workers occupy positions of power and influence in their role.
- Anti-discriminatory practice is an attempt to eradicate discrimination from our own practice and to uphold social justice principles.
Key Learning Outcomes
This course will explore:
- How do our attitudes, beliefs and experience impact practice, Service user experiences of exclusion, disempowerment and discrimination
- Prejudices and stereotyping
- Unconscious bias and assumptions
- Structural social work
- Forms of marginalisation and inequality - poverty / social exclusion
- The Equality Act and Protected Characteristics
