Aim

  • Social workers occupy positions of power and influence in their role.
  • Anti-discriminatory practice is an attempt to eradicate discrimination from our own practice and to uphold social justice principles. 

Key Learning Outcomes

This course will explore:  

  • How do our attitudes, beliefs and experience impact practice, Service user experiences of exclusion, disempowerment and discrimination
  • Prejudices and stereotyping 
  • Unconscious bias and assumptions
  • Structural social work
  • Forms of marginalisation and inequality - poverty / social exclusion
  • The Equality Act and Protected Characteristics

There is no charge to attend these courses, however a cancellation charge may apply to non-attendance if sufficient notice is not given
