Welshpool Household Waste Recycling Centre

Welshpool Recycling Centre

Household waste and recycling centres (HWRC) will reopen for Essential Use Only from Tuesday 26 May.

Do not visit before reading the full list of restrictions at the link below: https://en.powys.gov.uk/article/725/Household-Waste-Recycling-Centres

Please think carefully before you decide to visit the HWRC. Be prepared for long delays. Non-essential use puts yourself, other members of the public and our staff at risk from spreading the virus.

Restrictions

Vehicles are restricted to a maximum weight limit of 3.5 tonnes.

Check what restrictions are in place and if you require a permit to access this site here.

Commercial Vehicles or Trailers

Household waste and recycling centres (HWRC) will reopen for ESSENTIAL USE ONLY from Tuesday 26 May.

Only cars will be allowed into the HWRCs. Initially, no trade permits, or commercial vehicles or trailers permits will be allowed. This also helps to assist with managing demand, enforcing social distancing rules and controlling traffic levels. This will be continually under review and changed when appropriate.

You can still apply for a permit to use your commercial vehicle or trailer at the sites when this changes. Due to our staff home-working arrangements currently in place, we are only able to accept applications electronically, we cannot process any documents sent in by post. Information on applying, and the terms and conditions for the permit scheme can be found using the link below.

Mixed Waste

In order to ensure that we maximise recycling at our Household Waste Recycling Centres the Council operates a 'no mixed waste' policy. This means that residents are required to sort their waste before visiting the sites, removing all recyclable material. Any resident bringing mixed waste to the recycling centres will be asked to sort this on site by site staff.

Proof of residency

Our recycling centres are paid for by Powys residents. You may be asked to provide proof of residency (such as a recent council tax or utility bill, or a valid driving license) before being allowed to deposit any material.

Trade Waste

Household waste and recycling centres (HWRC) will reopen for ESSENTIAL USE ONLY from Tuesday 26 May.

Only cars will be allowed into the HWRCs. Initially, no trade permits, or commercial vehicles or trailers permits will be allowed. This also helps to assist with managing demand, enforcing social distancing rules and controlling traffic levels. This will be continually under review and changed when appropriate.

If you are an annual Trade Recycling Permit holder, for taking commercial recycling to the Household Waste Recycling Centres, we can offer advice on alternative arrangements. You will not lose money for lost time on the permit while the sites are closed to Traders. We will extend your permit when the sites re-open to cover however long the sites were closed to you.
