SPOs also support schools through supportive policing practices; dealing with incidents using the School Crime Beat policy and offering restorative resolutions including restorative conferencing when required.

Powys County Council Youth Services Open Access.
The Open Access Youth Team offers a wide range of activities and opportunities to young people aged 11-25. The service is voluntary based and is open ended in nature. This means the youth workers are able to build a significant relationship with young people. This often gives the youth worker unique understanding of young people and a better knowledge to tailor their work to suit the individual needs. Over time this leads to positive outcomes and the empowering of young people to make informed decisions about their lives and futures.
The sessions are delivered by the 12-hour youth workers and are planned in conjunction with the schools. The school and community knowledge and intelligence feeds into this planning and responds to local need. These groups are formed around the needs of young people and are based around topical conversations, awareness days and any school-based issues that may have happened that week! There are drop-in sessions for young people during breaktimes and lunchtimes where young people can access the youth workers for advice and guidance on a range of issues or topics. They form close relationships with the Wellbeing and Pastoral departments in each school to ensure that the provision of support is targeted to the young people who need it most.

Youth Advocacy ( White Ribbon)
The youth advocacy program is for 14-18-year-olds both male and female to understand what healthy and unhealthy relationships are, learn about domestic abuse, sexual violence, and the legislation around issues that pupils face on a daily basis such as sexting. It also teaches pupils about gender-based violence and the root causes associated with this. It is a two-hour session followed by a ceremony where the pupils will receive a certificate and where they can make a pledge to the white ribbon to become a role model within their school and call out unwanted behaviour.
Following the initial two‑hour session, we will continue to support the group to develop as role models? This will include guidance to help them raise awareness within their communities through project work, access to funding specifically for resources, and opportunities for ongoing learning

Mid and North Powys Mind
At Mid and North Powys Mind, our Youth Service supports young people aged 11 to 25 right across Mid and North Powys. We work closely with schools and colleges so the support we offer genuinely fits what each young person needs.
Our one‑to‑one support usually begins with up to twelve sessions with one of our mental health practitioners. After that, we offer six sessions of supported self‑help, based on gentle cognitive‑behavioural ideas. The focus is on helping young people see things differently, build confidence, and develop practical tools to support their wellbeing.
We also link in with other organisations to make sure each young person receives a full package of support. When more specialist help is needed, we guide them to the right place. Our aim is to help young people feel heard, supported, and encouraged as they work on their wellbeing and build resilience for future challenges. We offer support for parents too, because looking after a young person's wellbeing is always a team effort.
Alongside the one‑to‑one work, we run several friendly, welcoming groups. These include a monthly Youth Café for 11-15‑year‑olds in both Llandrindod Wells and Welshpool, and a monthly girls and non‑binary group for 11-15‑year‑olds in Llandrindod Wells. For older young people aged 16-25, we offer weekly in‑person groups in Llandrindod Wells and at the NPTC campus in Newtown.
Everything we do is about creating safe, supportive spaces where young people can talk, connect, and feel understood.
