Cooking Counts
A free new course aimed to promote numerical skills through cooking is being offered across the county, Powys County Council has said.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, 'Cooking Counts' offers an opportunity for Powys residents to improve their numeracy and cookery skills, through practical activities and group discussions.

The course will be available throughout the county, and will take six-weeks to complete, with each session being two hours long. Participants must be available to complete all six weeks and must fit the eligibility criteria.

To ensure everyone can work together, group sizes will be limited to a maximum of 6-8 people, depending on venue, so booking is essential.

Those that attend the course will receive a free recipe book, as well as a goody bag containing kitchen utensils worth approximately £20.

Cllr Richard Church, Cabinet Member for a Safer Powys, said: "This free opportunity gives you the chance to develop your numeracy and cookery skills as part of a small group, and with the course available in venues across the county, it has ensured that it's open to all to take advantage of.

"It's fantastic to receive the funding to bring courses such as this to Powys, and I would really encourage all residents to sign up, if they can."
