Replacement Local Development Plan (LDP) Preferred Strategy
Powys Local Planning Authority undertook a seven-week consultation on the Preferred Strategy for the Replacement Local Development Plan between Monday 19 August and Monday 7 October 2024. The consultation is now closed.
What is the Preferred Strategy?
The Powys Replacement LDP Preferred Strategy seeks to address the needs of the Powys Plan Area by proposing levels of housing and employment growth and identifying where this should be broadly distributed. The Preferred Strategy includes a proposed Sustainable Settlement Hierarchy together with a set of strategic level planning policies which will be expanded upon by detailed policies and proposed land allocations (for new development) in subsequent stages of the Replacement LDP process.
An Initial Integrated Sustainability Appraisal and a Habitats Regulations Assessment Information Report have been published with the Preferred Strategy.
All consultation documents and supporting documents, including the Candidate Sites Register and background evidence documents are still available to view and can be found on the Historic Documents section of the LDP consultation portal.
Consultation responses are now being analysed and considered and will be used to inform the next formal stage of the Replacement LDP (2022-2037), the Deposit Plan. An Initial Consultation Report detailing the main issues and points being made and the Council's consideration of them will be made available in due course.

Details of the Preferred Strategy consultation (which has now closed) are set out in the formal Notice and Statement of Pre-deposit matters (PDF) [146KB].
