The People and Skills priority of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is committed to empowering Powys residents with the tools and opportunities needed to excel in the modern workforce. By addressing skills gaps and improving access to education and training, this priority helps individuals build brighter futures.

Objectives
- Skills Development: Courses and training programmes to help individuals in Powys gain essential skills, including basic and life skills, digital skills, and vocational qualifications. This includes adult education classes, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training.
- Digital Inclusion: Initiatives to increase digital inclusion in Powys, ensuring that all residents have the skills and access needed to participate in the digital economy. This includes providing digital literacy training and access to affordable devices and internet services.
- Green Skills: Training and support for green skills to promote sustainable practices and employment in the green economy. This includes courses on renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and environmental conservation.
- Youth Support: Programmes to support young people in Powys in accessing education, training, and employment opportunities, helping them reach their full potential. This includes career counselling, internships, and support for NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) individuals.
- Retraining and Upskilling: Support for individuals in high carbon sectors to retrain and upskill, ensuring they can transition to new employment opportunities in a low-carbon economy. This includes funding for retraining programmes and support for career transitions.
