Multiply: Boosting Adult Numeracy in Powys

Introduction

What is Multiply?

Multiply is a UK-wide programme aimed at improving numeracy skills among adults. Delivered through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, it empowers people in Powys to gain the practical maths skills they need for everyday life, work, and personal development.

Why Numeracy Matters

Numeracy is essential for managing finances, improving job prospects, and building confidence. Many adults lack basic numeracy skills, which can hold them back. Multiply addresses this gap by providing free, flexible learning options for anyone aged 19 or over.

What Multiply Offers

  • Free Courses: Learn at your own pace with options like personal tutoring, online lessons, and group classes.
  • Practical Skills: Budgeting, financial management, and maths for the workplace.
  • Tailored Learning: Programmes for parents, jobseekers, employees, and the unemployed.
  • Personal Tutoring: One-on-one support to help adults in Powys improve their numeracy skills, tailored to individual needs. This includes personalised learning plans and regular progress assessments.
  • Digital Training: Online courses and resources to provide flexible and accessible numeracy training for residents of Powys. This includes interactive modules, video tutorials, and virtual classrooms.
  • Flexible Courses: Courses designed to fit around people's lives, making it easier for them to participate and improve their skills. This includes evening and weekend classes, as well as self-paced learning options.
  • Financial Literacy: Courses to help individuals in Powys improve their numeracy skills for managing money, budgeting, and financial planning. This includes practical workshops on personal finance and money management.
  • Community Partnerships: Collaboration with community organizations in Powys to develop and deliver numeracy programmes that meet local needs. This includes partnerships with local schools, libraries, and community centres.
