Stock Condition Survey - Now Underway!
We're excited to share that our Stock Condition Survey (SCS) project is now up and running!
The SCS Team began surveying properties in mid-September with a trial launch. This initial phase helped us test our newly designed IT software, train our surveyors, and assess our processes. It's been a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
Unlike previous surveys, we've chosen to carry out these whole-house surveys using our own in-house team of highly skilled surveyors, rather than use external contractors. This approach allows us to collect more detailed and relevant information about our homes.
Our aim is to visit every property over the next few years. By seeing the condition of all our homes, we can better understand where repairs, upgrades, or investments are most needed.
We'd like to thank the tenants who have already taken part in the survey. We know the visits may have taken longer than expected, and we truly appreciate your patience, kindness, and enthusiasm. Your support has helped shape the way we carry out this important work.
This trial phase has provided valuable insights and helped us refine how we approach the next stages of the project. Thanks to your cooperation and feedback, we've been able to shape a whole-home survey process that will benefit tenants now and for generations to come.
What is the Stock Condition Survey?
The Stock Condition Survey involves a visual inspection of both the interior and exterior of your home. Our dedicated team of Powys County Council Surveyors will gather information on: Home Condition: Evaluating the age and condition of major elements such as the kitchen, bathroom, windows, doors, roof, and heating system. Energy Efficiency: Collecting data to determine how energy-efficient your home is.
Why are these Surveys Important?
They are essential for assessing the condition and energy efficiency of our homes, ensuring we meet the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) 2023. It will help us plan for repairs and future investment programmes. Additionally, we will create a bespoke Target Energy Pathway (TEP) for your home, identifying and implementing energy efficiency improvements. These measures aim to create cost savings and may include enhanced insulation, low carbon heating and renewable technologies.
What to expect?
When we are due in your area, you will receive letters with more information about the survey, including a letter with your survey appointment date. If you think you may require assistance or support during the survey due to a disability or impairment this is something we can arrange.
We do not expect you to move furniture or other large items or carry out any excessive cleaning. We kindly ask that you ensure for reasonable and clear access to all areas of your home and that any pets are kept secure for the duration of the survey.
