Amending council tenancies
Adding a joint contract-holder
As a contract-holder you may add another person as a joint contract-holder under your occupation contract (tenancy), however you must have our permission to do this.
We may not unreasonably refuse permission, but we can give permission subject to certain conditions.
A new joint contract-holder can be added to the current contract by signing an agreement between all joint contract-holders and us.
When a person is made a joint contract-holder, they become entitled to all the rights and subject to all the obligations of the contract from the day on which they become a joint contract-holder.
If you would like to add a person as a joint contract-holder, download and complete the form below and return via e-mail: housing@powys.gov.uk or post:

Removing a joint contract holder
As a joint contract holder, you can withdraw from the contract by giving us a minimum of one month's notice in writing.
A joint contract-holder can leave a contract without the contract ending for the remaining joint contract-holder(s).
You are liable for the obligations of the contract up to the contract end date. After this date, the remaining joint contract-holder(s) become(s) fully entitled to all the rights and is fully liable for the obligations of the contract.
You must give a copy of the written withdrawal notice to the remaining contract holder(s).
As soon as we receive the notice, we must also notify the remaining contract holder(s) and send them a copy of the withdrawal notice.
