Highways
Last night was a busy one.
The full fleet were out patrolling, ploughing and treating the priority routes throughout the night. Conditions in the mid and north of the county were particularly challenging, with stranded cars, accidents, fallen trees and powerlines causing problems.
This morning (Friday 9 January) crews were back out clearing and treating the priority routes from 8am and will move on to secondary routes from 10:30am.
Many of the reported fallen trees have already been cleared and we are working to ensure any remaining are sorted asap.
Whilst weather conditions remain cold, please take care when outside, allow extra time for journeys and take note of any advice given by the Met Office, police or the council.

Waste and recycling
If safe, collections will continue. However, we expect difficulties accessing more rural areas due to the weather and road conditions. Residents are advised to check online for any changes to the collections: Bin collection day
Household Recycling Centres will only open if conditions allow. Updates will be available online and social media. Any residents with a booking will be emailed if the HRC is closed.
Welshpool and Llandrindod Household Recycling Centres will be closed today (Friday 9 January).
If you already have a booking, we will email you to confirm the closure. No further bookings can be made for either site for today (Friday 9 January) online or over the phone. As long as conditions allow, we are planning for all Household Recycling Centres to be reopened tomorrow (Saturday 10 January).
Schools and school transport
There will be no school transport on Friday 9 January.
Due to the nature of the amber weather warning and the advice to avoid unnecessary travel, the decision has been made to suspend all school transport on Friday 9 January.
Schools will decide whether to close at a local level. Any closures will be reported online here: School Closures
Public transport
We are expecting disruptions to bus services. Passengers are advised to check with Traveline Cymru and local bus operators for the latest service updates before travelling.
If weather conditions are particularly severe, we strongly recommend avoiding unnecessary travel.
Staff
Where possible, staff should work from home and not make unnecessary journeys. Frontline staff will be supported to carry out the roles as safely as possible.
